This year cinemagoers can look forward to filmic fare from 14 EU member countries at the free annual European Union Film Festival at Cinema Nouveau countrywide. Screened by Jameson, the 2006 festival kicks off at Jameson Brooklyn, Pretoria, 15 - 21 September 2006; moves to Rosebank, Johannesburg, 22 - 28 September; then to Cavendish, Cape Town, 29 September - 5 October; and finally concludes at Gateway, Durban, 6 - 12 October. The films range from gritty realism to fantastical comedy and all reflect some unique aspect of the countries and cultures from which they arise.
