Radio 702 has become the first member of the electronic media to be refused coverage of the Zimbabwean presidential election. This comes after the Zimbabwean government, after meetings with Deputy Foreign Minister Aziz Pahad, gave assurances that South African applications would be favourably considered. SANEF, the South African National Editors Forum, will be appealing to the Foreign Ministry to meet again with Zimbabwe's Information Ministry.
