The Big Issue, in partnership with The Gallery at the Bay in The Bay Hotel, Cape Town, is on the look-out for the best unknown street art talent in the Western Cape with the launch of the annual The Big Issue Street Art awards this November . The creations of 20 finalists, across all mediums of sculpture, photography, painting and wirework, will be selected for exhibition at The Gallery. The pieces will be auctioned at a gala evening in April 2008 and further evaluated for the first, second and third prize award categories, which will be announced at a prize-giving ceremony after the auction. Half of the proceeds will go directly into the artists' pockets and half will be donated to welfare organisation's identified by the purchasers of the art.
