Olympic fever is high and the August 2008 issue of Sports Illustrated magazine includes the 2008 Beijing Preview, an 18-page special section including everything from Olympic facts, stats, venues, records and a day-to-day “What to watch” guide to background happenings of next month's Beijing Summer Games. Editor of Sports Illustrated Steve Smith remarks, “There's something about the games that elevates it above other sports. It's the one sport event that showcases and accentuates all the qualities that make us human - physical talent, determination, cunning, unbridled joy, dark despair, and plain old bad-assness… they'll all be on display in Beijing. It's riveting stuff.”
