The South African Meetings Industry Federation (SAMIF) has elected Carol Weaving, managing director of the Thebe Exhibitions and Events Group as its deputy chairman.

Weaving is also chairman of the Exhibition Association of Southern Africa (EXSA) and oversees Meetings Africa, the annual business tourism exhibition, through Thebe Exhibitions.

SAMIF represents the broad spectrum of business tourism associations in South Africa and works closely with the business tourism unit of South African Tourism.

The members of SAMIF are EXSA, the Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI), the Society of Incentive and Travel Executives (SITE), the Technical Production Services Association (TPSA), the Federated Hospitality Association of Southern Africa (FEDHASA), the International Special Events Society (ISES) and the Southern African Tourism Services Association (SATSA).
