Not a PRISA member

I am a Public Relations Officer in the local government section. I need somebody to explain to me what am I missing by not being a PRISA member.

From my school days I have heard of PRISA and that as a PRO I must register. To date I still hear of PRISA. I need clarity on what it means to be a PRISA member. I mean, I am not registered but I can afford to change jobs. The practice number that one gets from PRISA upon registration, what is it for? What am I missing out on by not being a member? I know PRISA offers courses... etc, but what does it mean for me as an individual?
