Maya foundation course

Set over three weeks, students cover most aspects of the Maya software at a basic level, with a focus on theory as well as technique.

The course is designed to give students a working knowledge of Maya Unlimited v. 2008.

Examples will cover foundation skills for modeling, animating and rendering. Whilst the course is designed to be as comprehensive as possible, Maya is a large, complex, software application. Therefore, self-study during the course and further study after the course will be required.

Who should attend?
• 2D designers/illustrators who are looking for an extra tool in their arsenal
• 3D designers/illustrators who would like to learn another application
• Traditional animators who would like to learn 3D animation

Admission requirements:
The following skills are essential for acceptance onto the course:
• Basic Computer Skills are an absolute must
• Photoshop, or equivalent package
• Some form of design experience, or interest
• Basic mathematic skills
• Patience and dedication
Creative skills or experience (non-essential)
• Drawing
• Photography
• Camerawork and Lighting
• Sound and video editing

Technical areas of knowledge which my help (non essential)
• Physics and world forces
• Advanced mathematics

• Modeling (Polygons, Nurbs, Subdivisions)
