Broadcast journalism course

This five-month, correspondence course teaches you all the skills to write and present TV and radio programmes on news and current affairs.

Enter the exciting world of broadcast journalism under the tutorage of veteran correspondent, Nick Worrall, and become a writer for TV and radio news, current affairs and documentaries.

Write for one of the fastest growing media industries in the world! This five-month, correspondence course teaches you all the skills to write and present TV and radio programmes on news and current affairs.

You will be able to work as a freelancer or in-house for TV stations, 450+ radio stations or 5000+ online news sites worldwide.

Students must complete:
• 10 writing exercises (10 for assessment and feedback)
• Short features, news reports and scripts, as required during the course

Admission requirements:
• Basic writing skills are essential
• Computer skills, email and internet access required
• No previous tertiary qualification required

Tutor:

Nick Worrall has worked as a journalist in TV, radio and print media for the past 40 years. After working several years at the BBC, he opted to become a freelance correspondent for the next twenty years, working around Africa, Russia, and the USA.

Nick immigrated to South Africa in 1998, and has been involved in broadcast journalism training for the BBC, Commonwealth Broadcasting in India, Pakistan, Uganda, Botswana, Lesotho, Nigeria, Mauritius, Kazakhstan, Russia, and the SABC in South Africa.

He has published a book on his two-year trip in Sudan.
