The Write Circle does Steriel

You are invited to join The Write Circle's outing to Artscape Theatre Centre to watch the preview performance of Steriel.

Share an evening of first rate entertainment with friends and meet playwright and actor Gideon van Eeden after the performance for an in depth Q and A

Steriel will enjoy a short season at Artscape from August 21 before it leaves on its European tour to Antwerp, Amsterdam and The Hague. This project of the Artscape New Writing Programme will be presented in the Artscape Arena.

Steriel is an exciting, contemporary Afrikaans drama, written by Gideon van Eeden. The play explores the friendship between two ambulance men working on the Cape Flats, and the difficulties they have to overcome in their jobs. They have to rescue the injured, face the flying bullets, and, above all, come to terms with their own demons.

Van Eeden studied at the Tshwane University of Technology and made his debut as television actor in the ever-popular, series, Egoli. He started his career as a creative writer in the music competition, Zing!, which was featured on kykNET. He has recently completed a new play for the Artscape New Writing Programme entitled, Pônou.

Steriel is directed by veteran theatre director and actor, Ralph Lawson. The production features popular actor Ivan Abrahams as Donovan Vermaak, while Gideon van Eeden plays Francois Lourens and Travis Snyders will be seen as Rasul Stoffels. Designs are by Dicky Longhurst, with lighting by Faheem Bardien and original music and sound design by Shaun Michau.

The preview performance will be on Wednesday, August 21 at 20:30 at the Artscape Arena. The discounted ticket price is only R45 per person. If you have a group of 10 or more there is a further discount of 10% for the group booking.
