This one-day course covers making meaning of textual and visual elements, the interaction between text and graphics, the use of graphics and the role of space and typography.
An effective document will use textual and visual elements to interact with each other in a way that supports the message and speaks to the target audience.
How do you create powerful, meaningful and effective documents?
Everyone wants to create documents that are powerful, meaningful and effective. How do you achieve that? A document is surely much more than just words on paper. It conveys a message where both the textual and visual elements of the text are important. The choices we make concerning font type, font size, layout and graphics that are used, often contribute as much to the effectiveness of the message as the words that are used. An effective document will, therefore, use the textual and visual elements to interact with each other in a way that supports the message and speaks to the target audience.
The Stellenbosch University Language Centre will present an introductory half-day seminar on 19 March 2008 about the interaction between text and graphics. The presenter is Prof. Leon de Stadler, a document design specialist with extensive knowledge and experience in this field.
The following will be discussed: • Making meaning of textual and visual elements • The interaction between text and graphics • The use of graphics • The role of space and typography
The cost is R450 and only 20 participants can be accommodated. To ensure a place, register for the seminar before the closing date (10 March 2008).
