The beginner Photoshop CS course. I assume you know nothing about the package, and will teach you all you need to know as a beginner, so that you will be ready for any of the advanced courses.

Duration: Two days

This is not some silly four-hour course where you will waste your money, it is a properly structured two-day course that will provide you with usable information.

Would you like to be taught how to get to Durban, or would you like to read a map, so you can get anywhere you want? My hands-on courses is structured in such a way that you will understand Photoshop, and therefore understand how to get the desired effect yourself. The beginner course will teach you everything you need to know so you will be able to successfully complete the advanced course.

Fundamental course:
The workshop is targeted at junior/beginner Photoshop users. I have more than ten years experience in Photoshop and will utilise this knowledge to tutor participants on all the basic tools and some fundamentals regarding layers.

The following will be addressed:
- Creating a cover for your digital negative jewel case
- An introduction to layers
- Basic Photoshop tools
- Basic image control
o Reading a histogram, adjusting levels, basic curves, basic colour balance, brightness and contrast, basic hue and saturation, desaturation, shadow/highlight.

- Creating a visible watermark for your images
- Creating your own brush
- Basic colour theory - RGB, CMYK

This will be a hands-on workshop, to ensure you understand the tool before we move on. I will therefore not simply be throwing a bunch of theory at you, but allow you to work and learn as we progress. Therefore, you need to bring along your laptop (with a mouse) - with Photoshop installed. An extension cord will also prove helpful.

Course notes will be supplied, but bring along a pen, as you will be taking your own notes as well.

If you are new to Photoshop, you need to complete this course before attending the advanced course, as I expect the students to know the basic tools of Photoshop by then.
