Applied Photoshop one

This course looks at layers, image manipulation and other advanced techniques - advanced sharpening, fixing photo's, fixing flat lighting conditions, adding/removing objects from an image etc.

Advanced Photoshop course one, focusing on basic photoshop setup and digital imaging techniques.

Only 12 seats available. First come, first serve.

Duration: 2X Saturdays

This is probably the most complete course you will be able to find. It will be a hands-on workshop, to ensure you understand the tool before we move on.

I will therefore not simply be throwing a bunch of theory at you, but allow you to work and learn as we progress. Therefore, you need to bring along your laptop (with a mouse) - with Photoshop installed. An extension cord will also prove helpful.

We will be addressing the following:
1. Photoshop setup
a. General
b. Units and rulers
c. Plugins and scratch disks
d. Memory and image cache
2. Colour space - SRGB vs. Adobe RGB
3. Understanding dpi and megapixels
4. A brief look at raw file handling
5. Locating white and black
6. Basic colour management and colour casts removal
7. Channels - Red for smooth
8. Glamour techniques
a. Soft focus
b. Magazine cover glamour skin
9. Sharpening
a. Unsharp mask
b. Highpass sharpening
c. Lab sharpening
d. Smart sharpening
10. Managing lighting conditions
a. Making a white overexposed sky blue again
b. Getting rid of 'flat' lighting conditions
c. Removing hotspots from people's faces
d. Correct exposure from generally over-and underexposed images
e. Creating HDR (high dynamic range) manually
11. Other techniques
a. Creating actions
b. Layers - The grimm tale
c. Editing in perspective
d. Opening eyes and matching skin tones

If you are new to Photoshop, you need to complete the beginners course before attending the advanced course, as I expect the students to know the basic tools of Photoshop by then.
