The Cape Scriptwriters Association will be running a radio drama writers' workshop at The Runway, Cape Town.
Radio drama is alive and well and the SABC needs more writers!
Last year CASWA (in collaboration with SAfm) ran two very successful radio drama writers' workshops - a basic radio play course, followed by a radio drama serial workshop, which yielded a 20-episode thriller, scheduled to be broadcast by SAfm.
This years training will take place at The Runway (Cape Film Commission's resource centre) located at the Waterfront Studios, Port Road, Greenpoint. The training starts on Saturday 26 July 2008. It will be facilitated once again by experienced radio writer/director Nigel Vermaas and renowned film and TV script editor Dermod Judge.
The course will require attendance at three weekend sessions. Two consecutive weekends, (26/27 July and 2/3 August) followed by individual sessions with editors experienced at developing scripts. The third training weekend 27/28 September will take place at the SABC Sea Point, when excerpts from some of the plays will be recorded in the drama studio. Developed scripts will be submitted to SAfm for broadcast in English.
Applications close on 14th July.
The fee for the course is R1250, which covers materials, editor's fees, recording time and light lunches. There are a limited number of partial bursaries available.
For details of how to apply, SMS your name and email address to Nigel Vermaas on 083 984 2294 or Tess Fairweather on 083 254 9589
