News Glitches  by  MaZambian
I agree entirely with your sister in law. My sympathies lie with the presenters, They deserve to have decent technical back up and they are not getting it. I recall being extremely entertained by the news broadcasts when I was a teenager/young adult living in Zambia. There, the presenters would announce quite unashamedly "we apologise for the technical c*&k up." It would seem that our broadcasting standards are on the decline. Pity.

Size dosen't matter
Oh come on! I really don't think it's the size of the organisation that counts here. What does is attention to detail. Errors seem to creep in all the time and it's not just during the news. Obviously no one is accountable and the station is run by a bunch of amateurs. The bigger picture might never happen if the smaller things aren't looked at first!

Remove your blinders and look at the bigger picture....silly!  by  Anonymous
I don't think you are a reasonable individual with a capacity to present a logic argument. granted, etv news broadcasts aren't exactly the sharpest in the drawer, but we are talking here about a medium news organisation with paltry resources and your comparison of a 5 year old station with a big giant like BBC is conspicous. someone must tell you that unfairly critical south africans like you, are quite welcome in London. and if you don't like watching the news why don't you quit? I mean really is this apparent lack of expertise and shoddy presentation going to change the course of history? How urgent is this matter? Please remove your blinders and look at the bigger picture. perhaps your swipe has everything to do with the fact that given the opportunity to perform the same task you will be worse than etv can ever be.

Anon is right  by  bennie
Also, it says a lot that, bearing in mind that SATV decided to broadcast two of their newses at the same bloody time as etv, most of us still end up watching etv news.

I agree but how about finding the solution?  by  andy
OK, the BBC with all it's vast experience will sometimes screw up - have you seen their regional bulletins or
News 24?
So, Etv have only been around for 5 years - that's no excuse for an amateur hour.
The BBC will get away with it because they invest in training. I work with continuity announcers and before we let them on air we train them - it's a question of sink or swim. If they sink it's thank you and goodbye. If they can swim they can be an asset to the channel.
The presenters just need the confidence to deal with live tv.
Having just returned from 3 weeks in SA my advice to Etv is, fix it - it doesn't have to be this way!

Seen 10o'clock news on 3? Worse than anything else on TV!  by  lebo
I watched the new SABC3 10 PM news for the first time last week thursday....i must say this after what i saw i don't think i will watch them ever. Can somebody tell me why those two girls, i think it's Lerato and Masego? They were shocking.

At some point Lerato was interviewing Danny Jordan and kept cutting him off. I mean he'd be in the middle of a sentence trying to answer her but she just cuts him in the middle. And you'd think she'll ask a follow-up question? No! she'll beat about the bush before making her sill unprofessional point. If i were Danny i would have crapped on all of them for making him to studio and be treated with such unprofessional manner.

And you'd think the business reported, Masego lady, was better...worse. I tell you this girls must have done something to get the job. why is SABC investing in all this? or maybe the news director or whoever is running the show is just as inexperienced as the whole buch....their came work is also disgusting. At some point this business reporter lady was talking to someone in cape town studio....and you see the back of her head(talk about camera work ..that sucked big time).

SABC think that i will get home late at night to watch crap? NEVER AGAIN. News is about information to people not the fidgeting lerato who can't even sit still!

get your act together guys....otherwise will stop paying my license.
