Comments on Zimbabwe's ad industry forges ahead in turmoil

Ashes to Ashes - Dust to Dust  by  ADMA Exile
The heading to this story is erroneous and somewhat misleading. In a land where local consumables are simply unavailable Zimbabe's advertising industry is actually in intensive care.

It is rather ADMA representing the media that is still sparking albeit under duress in a collapsed economy.

The talk of picking up the pieces in Zimbabwe is over optimistic as the motto and policy of the demolition team running the country is ashes to ashes and dust to dust.

those that leave always expect the worst so that their leaving can be justified.
It is sad that people like Mike Rook, who admittadly did their fair share of growing the Zimbabwean Ad Industry, now see themselves as paulbearers of a dead Industry. The truth of the matter is that the Zimbabwean Ad Industry is indeed forging ahead as described by Brian Gamble. Over the past two or three years there has been a concerted effort by the remnat that is still here, alive and well to pick up the pieces that were perhaps neglected by some of these "ADMA Exiles" like Mike Rook, who now want to see a bleak picture of the Zimbabwean Ad Industry in order to feel exonerated for having left (whichever form of leaving they would have taken - either leaving the industry or leaving the country altogethr). The introduction of the Advertising Awards under the brand Ngoma Advertising Awards is no doubt a very positive move as the awards have been growing in participation since their inception, eventually becoming the platform on which the new ASA mentioned by Brian Gamble emerged from. So taking the issue from a players point of view rather than a spectator - Its Game on!
