recognisable name, probably needs a job, and can't let too many actual darkies into women's magazines - at least we know Khanyi is safe and will toe the party line on homogenising the black women's market so it eventually fits seamlessly into the white women's magazine market and no one needs to worry about whte women being marginalised in media

i'm being cynical - but you're right - a harvard MBA should be a magazine publisher or even CEO - not editing a magazine.

cmon Khanyi - open your own company - redefine women's magazines - open the job market to young black women and give them a training ground that acknowldeges their backgrounds and experiences instead of simply shoring up the existing structure that expects young black women to be little coconuts fitting to succeed in a medium that cannot move beyond a white western construct.

are you going to make Real as 'real' as move is? I read that magazine and wonder just how much the subs know about English as spoken by second language speakers and how much vibrancy and new intriguing forms of African English are being dissolved under the refusal to acknowledge that the language is an evolving one.

English as spoken by the intelligentsia in India, Kenya, etc are very different to the British english we're expected to iternalise here to succeed in magazines.

I wonder when someone will wake up and smell the coffee and realise that African English is a fantastic, evolving vibrant way of communicating - and we all don't have to speak English like the Queen to be understood?

I think editing real will not be the best of jobs for a woman of her calibre but I think it is not a bad idea to get magazines such as real on that platform because she would give Busi from true Love a run for her money and Thami will have to watch her mag.....

Isn't it amazing how people can judge before waiting to see how Khanyi was planning her progression. If Editing "Real" was a platform to new heights after harvard for Khanyi, why not? I am sure many are eating their hearts out, she is very inspirational......

I thought she was going to use those high qualifications for a better use. I just hope its not true about our lovely Khanyi. I mean thats the lady who use to set standards in Mzansi...what is happening to her????

She won't be with Real at all, this is a Sunday Times error. She will be starting her own title, with Media24 backing but under another publisher, that will target a high end market.

We'll never grow as a country if we look down on people of high calibres going for small jobs. I'm ok with Khanyi not being a Real editor, Phindile's doing a great job, but it would be great to have Khanyi! Look what she did at True Love. She's always been a woman of growth!!!
