I read the comment made about being tricked into purchasing these 'amazing vouchers' - what a sham - when I checked the vouchers, most of them are for places not in my area and as a single mother, I simply cannot afford the monthly payments, besides the fact that I was under the impression that the vouchers would be worth more, the vouchers are for places that I do not frequent - I do not go to a number of the places that the vouchers are for (some bar in a dark alley somewhere in Cape Town! - I live in Somerset West - can anyone see me driving all that way with my 11 year old daughter to get a lousy shooter? - I do not drink alcohol anyway) - I was also told that I cannot canel and that the 2 year contract is binding - yet I did not sign anything - I am in a desperate situation becuase they are still deducting R195.00 from my account - I have spoken to my bank and they have attempted to put a stop on the debit order - this worked for 1 month only - I am notw being forced to closed my bank account because of this and open another on (with a different account number!) - hopefully they (at Amazing Vouchers) will get tired of unpaid debit orders and eventually give up - is there anyone else out there who is in the same situation as me? Any comments / advise will be appreciated.
I've actually just joined, havent had a chance to start using the vouchers. I understand that you are supposed to send them a letter to terminate the contract which will then take effect 1 month after them receiving your letter, other than that, call their customer servive number (021) 415 3000 & ask them to tell you how you can break this contract. Good luck!
Many thanks for your comment. I did however duly put it in writing that I wish to cancel with Amazing Vouchers, their reply was, 'you have a 2 year contract and you can give us notice that you wish to cancel one month prior to your contract ending'!!!!?????
This became a common trend with various companies that is providing some sort of services to consumers. Contract get drafted to protect the intress of the company but deliberately taking the rights of the consumer away, for instance the option to cancel. The laws in general mostly protect the companies and not the consumers against service contacts that binds consumers even if the company cannot effieciently performs it's obligations. For companies it is a free for all marktes to sign up consumers who are not aware of all the pit falls with all the terms and conditions of these contract. This became a get rich scheme for quite a few companies. Conning, misleading, ommitting or withoulding information from consumers just to get them to sign up.
Forgot to note. It is important and in the intress of the public to make the name of these unscrupulous companies know. Give them free NEGATIVE, advertising.Legaly I do think you have the right to cancel, get a good lawyer, the consultation and advise is less than the money you going to spend for the rest of the contact term. Use the forums, emails ect. to let the public know of the inefficient , unprofessional, crappy service we getting for con companies in SA.
Croman, your comments are very much appreciated and I will most certainly take your advice - Companies who use smooth talking tele sales personnel to get business from 'suckers' like myself, need to be stopped once and for all. I am using every possible avenue at this point and will not rest until they are stopped.
I think everyone should go to the Media regarding this people they all belong to jail.they are making a fortune out of poor people and this is not good.I will be the first one to go to the media the whole of south africa should know about them.im going to make sure that they rot in jail
After trying to claim vouchers I realise that I have been conned, and then I still come across this site, I joined trying to save money instead I am losing money i dont have.
