Comments on Homemark - cunning campaign or sleazy scam?

Timeshare
It is not just homemark that uses this tactic. How many of us have received a call saying that we've won a week/weekend's free holiday. All you have to do is sit through an one hour presentation and then collect your prize. Once you've sat through the sales pitch of yet another time share scheme, and them trying to force you to buy (although you are not under any obligation) you can collect your prize, but wait, there's more ... you have to pay R400 - R800 'admin fee' before you can take your 'prize' home. I know R400 is not much for a week's accommodation, but you were told you won something - they are just trying to get rid of their empty/unsold inventory and getting paid to do it.

We don't accept 'prizes' of competitions we did not enter. the same should apply to homemark - if you did not enter a competition, ignore the prize.

unfortunately, there are people out there who think marketing and advertising is about fooling people, hopefully consumers and netizens will teach them a tough lesson or two

Sleazy Scam
I ordered a product and was told to pay R 75.00 for delivery.

They then proceeded to take R 234.60 off my credit card. When I asked them to reverse it they "send through a request" to their main office after which I heard nothing. I checked my account regularly and after a few days phoned their main office. I was told that they are putting it through "now" and sending me a fax as proof of payment, I have heard nothing, received nothing and, of course, no money.

To top off everything a parcel did arrive in the post, would you believe it was the wrong product.

I don't care how big they are, I am going to write to every single newspaper, governing body and blog I can lay my hands on until they can no longer do business in this country.
