Comments on Ribeiro is new MD of Ogilvy Johannesburg

the truth...  by  The watcher
how long is that bald headed guy from strat going to be deputy for? are you afraid of having a black leader, i mean a real hands on leader? before everybody gets defensive, think about this. Human, Smiedt, Lamont, Little. These are the real captains at Ogilvy and mind you Howard Smiedt is a brilliant creative and sales person. I'm not taking anything away from Nunu, but is there a shortage of black leaders in the industry. and by the way, congratulations to the incoming MD - your CV speaks for itself.

White boy on top of the world! Why do you return to land of BEE
Why would someone on top of the marketing world return
to the land that gave you bafana bafana and BEE.
Now the most non-racial racialistic country in
the world. A place where those responsible for
previous human rights transgressions are now hiding
behind the rest of the white population.
I guess every one has their price. And it seems
getting a quick attack of - A passion for advertising, over rides a persons good sense.

If, as you say, this is a truly non-racialistic country, surely you would be blind to the new MD's skin colour and appreciate his contribution for what it is! South Africa is lucky to have him back, he left a bright future overseas to be a part of our growth! Mentality like that will get this country nowhere!

Good on you!  by  Hennie Stander

Julian has an intuitive business mind, a relentless passion for creative work and is brilliant at building, maintaining and improving client relationships. He is devoted to his wife and kids and will treat all the people where he works as if they were members of his own family.

Learn from him and perhaps one day you too will not judge someone on something as silly as the colour of their skin.

It's great to have you back in South Africa, even if it's not at this agency. There's not a single person at Hunt's that doesn't miss you.

All the best Julian, you've just made Ogilvy a lot harder to beat.

Dear 'The Watcher'  by  Sizwe

I agree with your comments about the industry needing more black leaders. But why don't you take it upon yourself, like I have, to be a black leader.

Change comes from within yourself, not others. I believe in you 'the watcher'. You can do it, because as your name suggests, you were born to lead.

Viva the Art Directors, Viva!

Thula Sizwe...  by  The watcher
On the real though, i'm far too junior but i'm working on it. Like I said, i'm taking nothing away from the current leaders of the industry, (howard smiedt is a brilliant advertising person)i would just prefer to see one of my own in a meaningful role to see that i can also do it.
