New guide for bloggers and online journalists launched in Cairo

The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information has welcomed the publishing of a new guide for citizen journalism on the internet. The guide, which is prepared by Stephen Franklin, a journalist and a media trainer, is short and simple and aims at helping beginning bloggers who desire to work as citizen journalists on the internet.

Cairo - The 10-page guide is entitled Ten Steps towards Citizen Journalism on the Internet and it contains simple and theoretical advice in addition to a definition of citizen journalism and blogger's rights. It is now published in Arabic in order to help Arab bloggers who want to work as journalists on the internet. Stephen Franklin also intends to translate it into other languages such as Spanish and Persian so that it helps bloggers in these countries.

In addition to publishing this guide on the website of the Arabic Initiative for a Free Internet, which is hosted by the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information, it has been issued as a CD including other topics prepared by Arab bloggers and Reporters Without Borders who are referenced in the CD. These additions complement the role of this guide in such a way that the user finds a number of topics ranging from how to create a blog and to secure the user's identity to how to ensure email safety, in addition to other technical advice for beginners.
