Starfish Mobile initiate Easter Race in Nigeria

Starfish Mobile International has created and implemented another successful SMS based campaign with Celtel Nigeria during the Easter month of March.

The Easter Race campaign was created by the Starfish Mobile International team and was based on the very popular ‘Amazing Race' concept. “What we did was receive a very basic brief from the client, Celtel Nigeria, and then create something innovative and fun to play and be a part of,” says Jonathan Hoehler, Chief Technical Officer for Starfish Mobile International.

Participants receive clues which are simple multiple choice questions. Each question provides a clue to finishing the race. Subscribers have to answer each clue correctly in order to progress to their next destination. Subscribers then receive their next set of questions in order to move to the next destination at a specific time. This is determined by a flight time in addition to the time it takes the user to complete the five questions plus any delays incurred.

”Once the subscriber arrives at a different destination they'll receive clues with relevance to Easter and the Easter holidays. The questions will also relate to the destination the subscriber is currently on,” says Kishenthree Naidoo, Starfish Mobile International Content Manager for West Africa.

Since the Celtel Nigeria Easter campaign is a race, the subscribers who answer any questions incorrectly will have a delay added to their flight times therefore limiting their chances of winning the race.

The subscriber to arrive at the final destination in the quickest time will win the grand prize. The Grand Prize is a flat screen television and there are daily prizes of Nokia handsets and I-Pods.
