SA stars come out in support of xenophobic victims

The International Fashion Sale is reaching to the stars to aid the plight of hundreds of victims of the recent spate of xenophobic attacks. South African celebrities, such as Mzansi actress Khanyisile Mbau and top model Christina Storm, are joining forces to aid the Red Cross at the sale, which takes place at Northgate's Coca-Cola Dome from 31 July - 3 August 2008, to collect clothes and blankets for the displaced and homeless individuals.

The International Fashion Sale is all about glamour and style and about feeling and looking good. This is being used as a platform to highlight the plight of those who may not even have enough to keep them warm this winter. It's not easy for those with a low incomes to afford to clothe, feed and school their offspring; and a 'clothing budget' is unheard of in households where all that matters are the basic necessities such as food.

The public is being urged to use this opportunity to clear out those items of clothing that they haven't worn for some time and may never want to wear again, and donate them to a worthy cause. Bins will be available at the Dome, for the duration of the sale, for easy off loading of items. The Red Cross will then distribute donations to its network of organisations in need of such charity.

Storm and Mbau are excited to be part of the campaign and hope to be able to make a small difference in the lives of many needy people living in our community. The stars will be on hand at different times throughout the event, along with other South African celebrities, to personally meet, greet and take donations from the public.
