MMX Art awarded 2010 FIFA fine art licence

Last week, Global Brands Group announced the appointment of MMX Art as the official licensee of the production and marketing of fine art relating to the 2010 FIFA World Cup. This is the first time that art has formed part of the official suite of world cup products.

MMX Art will manufacture and supply fine art products, branded with FIFA marks, for sale to Global Brands Group authorised buyers; and distribute them within the approved channels, worldwide. These products range from original paintings, sculptures, and ceramics to exclusive limited edition numbered prints, as well as a range of fine art collectibles and merchandising.

An ecstatic Craig Mark, MD of MMX Art remarked, “Art works celebrating the confluence of the African spirit with the ultimate global sporting spectacle will provide commercial prospects unmatched in the 80 year history of the FIFA tournament. Art has never before formed part of the official suite of World Cup products. Our product range will appeal equally to discerning football fans and the broader community of art collectors worldwide.”

Mark further stated that the three main projects to be undertaken by MMX Art - 2010 International Fine Art, 2010 Football Stars for Charity, and 2010 African Fine Art - have great potential for both social development and exceptional commercial returns.

In the 2010 International Fine Art project alone, MMX Art will hold 32 simultaneous public exhibitions in the 32 qualifying countries, each of which will run for between three and four weeks, with opening evenings accessible only to FIFA's major global partners and their invited guests.

“We continue to engage in partnerships with ethical and established South African companies such as MMX Art to ensure that we deliver the best possible products and service as mandated by our appointment as the worldwide exclusive licensing representative and store operator for FIFA-branded retail destinations 2007 to 2014,” said Paul Zacks, GM of Global Brands Group.

“The inclusion of art in the list of FIFA products is culturally revolutionary to any sporting tournament. It makes GB proud to bestow this honour upon MMX Art,” concluded Zacks.
