Ormerod quits CNBC Africa
By: Issa Sikiti da Silva

CNBC Africa COO Trevor Ormerod is leaving the television business channel to take up a post at Primedia, sources close to the television network told Bizcommunity.com yesterday, Tuesday, 4 December 2007.

Even though Ormerod himself declined all Bizcommunity.com's requests to comment on his departure yesterday, Tuesday, 4 December 2007, a CNBC source confirmed that Ormerod is in fact going and is due to start working next year at Primedia.

According to Business Day, Ormerod will be taking up the position of executive chairman of Primedia's cinema and print unit. In the meantime, Gary Alfonso, CNBC Africa's head of programming has been appointed acting COO, writes Business Report.

Ormerod previously worked at SABC as head of ad sales, was MD of Primedia @ Home and Primedia cinema division, and several other Primedia divisions. He joined CNBC Africa only a few months prior to the channel's launch just under six months ago.
