Gateway selected the Hellas-Sat 2 because it offered a powerful beam over southern Africa; because of its stability and immediate availability. With a strong beam with a long life-cycle, Gateway expects to be using Hellas-Sat 2 for years to come.

Gateway Communications has more than 1200 customers across 40 countries in Africa, and is the largest single user of satellite capacity over Africa. The Hellas-Sat 2, which was launched in May 2003, is helping Hellas Sat develop a market presence in South Africa, where it has positioned one of its steerable beams.
