The system enables the transmission of data by voice, image and internet at high speed and offers the possibility for transmission of radio and television signals.

It is a system that aims at interlinking every part of the country and may spur the development of sectors such as education, health, culture, defence, public administration, banking, airports and border checkpoints, among others.

INFRASAT will enable mobile phone operators to increase their transmission capacity and expand coverage, and will serve to improve telecommunication services connection capacity.

Through the DTH (Direct to Home) project the new system offers packages with multiple national and international radio and television channels.

INFRASAT enables the holding of video-conferences, distance professional training and will have mobile unities so that users can transmit data, through voice or video, as well as to have access to internet from country's remote regions.

It also provides an image monitoring system, with vigilance cameras, that can be installed at any place with a remote control.

The system was implemented by the Inter-Ministerial Commission for the General Co-ordination of the Telecommunications Project through Multi-Sectoral Assistance Satellite, created by the Head of State, on 21 Jul 2006, and carried out by the "Cognito International" firm.
