Dennis Mumble, the chief competitions officer of the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa (OC) has resigned due to personal reasons, the OC announced yesterday, Thursday, 28 August 2008.

Stated Dr Danny Jordaan, 2010 OC CEO, “It is with deep regret that we have accepted Dennis Mumble's resignation. Dennis is a bright, intelligent football administrator with whom I have personally worked since 1990. He submitted his letter of resignation, citing personal reasons, and we will respect his wishes.

"He has made a tremendous contribution to the Organising Committee and we continue to have the highest regard for his ability. We wish him well in his future endeavors and hope that he may still be an asset to the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee in future.”

Mumble worked as a FIFA general cooOrdinator at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and in various senior positions in South African football administration for many years.

Jordaan said the OC was looking for a replacement and hoped to fill the position shortly.
