Gateway awarded Best pan-Africa Wholesale Offering

LONDON: Gateway Communications, a supplier of secure, reliable telecommunications services across Africa, was awarded Best pan-African Wholesale Offering at Capacity Magazine's Global Wholesale Telecommunications Awards. The awards were announced on the first evening of Capacity Europe 2008 at a reception attended by over 300 senior industry executives.

Gateway Communications serves 1,200 of Africa's leading multinationals and corporations and has invested over $250 million in African communications since 2005 and continues to invest in growth and expansion across the continent.

The awards recognise the achievements of leading players in the wholesale telecoms industry. Gateway Communications wholesale offering was assessed on quality and performance of its network, reach of the network, speed to market, pricing strategy, and the company's overall investment in its network.

Independent research has estimated that over 30% of international calls coming into and out of Africa are carried over the Gateway network which handles more voice traffic from Africa to Europe and the United States than any other service provider.

“We are delighted to receive the accolade of 2008's Best pan-African Wholesale Offering from Capacity magazine,” said Peter Gbedemah, CEO of Gateway Communications. “More than any other service provider, Gateway Communications understands the African market, operating in 40 countries on the continent. We have the scale, resources and technical expertise to meet the ever-changing and growing requirements of the African telecoms industry. We look forward to further expanding our delivery of secure, reliable, high quality connectivity solutions to many more network operators on the African continent and into the rest of the world”.
