LG sponsors crime line

Consumer goods manufacturer LG Electronics South Africa has partnered with Primedia's Crime Line, an anti-crime campaign endorsed by the South African Police Service, to support the fight against crime in South Africa. The Crime Line road show is aimed at educating high school children that life's good without crime, with Primedia's Talk Radio 702 and 94.7 Highveld Stereo inviting high schools in Gauteng to participate in the road show campaign.

Over a period of four months, Crime Line ambassador Alan Heyl, the notorious and only surviving Stander Gang member, will be instrumental in getting the message to the South African youth with the “Life's Good Roadshow.”

“Statistically, the youth are the most easily influenced into a life of crime, with the average age of first time criminals being 17 years old,” says Michelle Potgieter, marketing director of LG South Africa. “Research also shows that youth under the age of 18 can positively benefit from rehabilitative measures.”

Gauteng Education MEC Angie Motshega is excited about this programme. “We must educate our children to say no, no, no to crime. We must also urge them to blow the whistle on criminals. This roadshow will assist in spreading the message.”

Yusuf Abramjee, group head of news and talk programming at Primedia Broadcasting, the man behind the Crime Line initiative, adds, “We are grateful to LG for sponsoring this roadshow. We have to spread the message that crime does not pay.”
