Mamelodi Sundowns partnership terminated

MTN South Africa announced today that it has decided not to renew its sponsorship agreement with Mamelodi Sundowns and that the end of the 2007/08 season would be the last year of their involvement with the team that they have sponsored for the past three years.

The joint decision by both parties to end the relationship comes after they failed to reach an agreement during the renegotiation phase of the contract.

In announcing the decision, Tim Lowry, MTN SA Managing Director, says, “After a successful and mutually beneficial three-year relationship with Mamelodi Sundowns, we have reached a joint and amicable decision to exit the partnership.”

The team's Media and Communications Manager Mahlatse Mphahlele says, “We have had a great partner over the past few years having enjoyed memorable moments including lifting the league trophy for two consecutive years. However, after our initial three-year agreement and after we could not agree on the terms of another contract we have agreed to end the partnership.”
The mobile company's other sponsorships of PSL clubs remain in place.
