The South African Creative Circle has awarded FoxP2 two Ad Of The Year awards for National Geographic Kids Magazine in the Magazine and Experiential category. Another FoxP2 piece of work for Addis came a close second in the Experiential category with judges being asked to recast their votes to determine the outright winner.
Says National Geographic Kids marketing manager, Kelly Logan, "We're absolutely thrilled. For the brand to win at Cannes, Clio's, Loeries and Ad Of The Month was outstanding - but two Ad Of The Year Awards is just the cherry on top. The brand's philosophy of edutainment is really coming to the fore in the advertising and the strong sales over the last year prove that parents love their kids to learn the fun way!"
According to FoxP2 Creative Director Andrew Whitehouse, "The Facts Stranger Than Fiction campaign shows parents there is an educational alternative to computer games, movies and comics. The campaign originated with the thought that the things we find in the natural world are far more amazing than anything you could ever make up."
The Facts Stranger Than Fiction campaign also featured in the Experiential category. Whitehouse continues, "The NG Kids Roadshows give us a wonderful opportunity to do something really different for the kids. We handed out Comic Book Cover Packs which the kids could then use to cover their school exercise books. This unique media channel gave the brand exposure in classrooms for an entire year."
Says CD Justin Gomes, "At FoxP2 we talk about 'The Freedom To Mutate' - which basically means we try find the most creative solution to a marketing problem. It may be a TV ad, a print ad, or in this case, something completely different. And being the first agency to win in the Experiential category I think shows we are living this philosophy, rather than just paying lip service to it."
