Octagon clients garner three more medals
Issued by: Octagon South Africa

After the third full day of Olympic competition, Octagon's clients continue to make headlines led by swimmers Michael Phelps and Natalie Coughlin. Octagon has now garnered 11 total medals which is good enough for fourth place in the overall medal count among countries.

Michael Phelps won his third gold medal and shattered his third world record in as many days with his dominant win in the 200m freestyle. Phelps has now tallied nine career Olympic gold medals, an accomplishment that ties him for the most ever in Olympic history. The Baltimore, MD native also set an Olympic record in the semifinals of the 200m fly.

Natalie Coughlin etched her name in the Olympic record books with her win in the 100m backstroke. Coughlin has become the first women ever to repeat as Olympic champion in that event and now has recorded seven career Olympic medals.

Kirsty Coventry challenged Coughlin at the end of the 100m backstroke to place second. The Zimbabwean swimming sensation has now collected two silver medals in Beijing and also set an Olympic record in the semifinals of the 200m IM.

In addition, Octagon Olympic & Action Sports Managing Director Peter Carlisle was interviewed today on CNBC's “The Call” discussing the tremendous commercial appeal for Phelps.
