Lenovo bulks up with latest laptop release

Targeting a segment of the laptop market it hasn't previously gone after, Lenovo launched the W700 ThinkPad Workstation. The unit is one of the first to be built with Intel's Core 2 Quad-Core Extreme processor. It isn't light, though, weighing in at 3.8kg (8.3 lbs.)

Lenovo's going big with its latest laptop offering, the 17-inch W700 ThinkPad Workstation. The machine boasts a high-resolution WUXGA display and a host of powerful features to boot.

The W700 - starting at US$3,500 - is without doubt targeted at engineers and other users who need high-performance hardware and displays. It opens up a new kind of market for Lenovo and a handful of new ideas for the laptop industry on the whole.
