Top media consultant gets back behind the microphone
Issued by: Janine Lazarus Media Consultancy

One of South Africa's top media consultants, Janine Lazarus, will be hosting an evening hard news talk show on a new Jewish community radio station that will be taking to the airwaves in December this year.

The show which will be broadcast on Chai FM from 9pm-12am from Monday through to Wednesday, will throw the spotlight on current affairs and news-breaking issues.

Based in studios in Raedene, Johannesburg, Chai FM will focus on the issues unique to the Jewish community and intends to touch the lives of 30 000 listeners in and around the Gauteng region.

The station's Managing Director, Kathy Kaler, said the station's objective was to achieve a medium that broadcasts information that is intelligent, insightful, and relevant to the Jewish community.

“We want a radio station that is balanced, without being inflammatory or divisive,” she said. “One of the biggest challenges to the community at present is the emigration of many core community donors. Chai Fm could pick up the slack and become a large funder to the Jewish community.”

The station's format will be 80% talk-driven, with music making up the rest of the programming. In addition, there will be 12 daily news bulletins and 12 headline bulletins.

With 24 years of experience in the mainstream print and electronic media, including a four-year stint as anchor of a weekly 702 Talk Radio show entitled The Janine Lazarus Report, this new programme will see Lazarus back behind the microphone.

“Radio is one of the most powerful mediums in the world. Its reach is nothing short of incredible,” she said. “I'm delighted to be part of the Chai FM team.”

Lazarus runs her own successful media and communications consultancy, Janine Lazarus Media Consultancy, and provides targeted media and communications training programmes for blue-chip corporates, government clients and parastatal organizations in South Africa and across 13 countries on the African continent.
