Showcasing the whacky world of advertising

The AAA School of Advertising Johannesburg campus is inviting learners to come and interact with its lecturers and staff at its open day this Saturday, 13 October 2007, and take the first step towards a highly rewarding career as an art director, copywriter, graphic designer, account executive, media planner or brand manager.

The open day is an opportunity to gather more insight about careers in the communications industry and view current student work. Parents and teachers are also invited to attend.

Owned by the Association of Advertising Agencies since 1990, the AAA School of Advertising is the official higher education institution for the South African advertising industry. With campuses in Johannesburg and Cape Town, the school offers both BA degree and diploma courses.

All courses offered are accredited by the ACA (Association of Communication and Advertising); International Advertising Association (IAA), New York, US and the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA). The AAA School of Advertising is an official training institution of the South African advertising industry, and is also registered with the SA Council on Higher Education.

Theoretical and practical

All courses on offer at the school incorporate both theoretical and practical work into the curriculum and staff invite guest lectures from the advertising industry to provide insight into the world of advertising.

The Cape Town campus application closes for 2008 on 31 October and 30 November 2007 has been set for the Johannesburg campus.

Unlike many other schools, AAA final year students are required to participate in a month's compulsory internship programme before they graduate. This goes a long way to ensuring that at least 80% of AAA students are employed and absorbed into the ad industry shortly after graduating.

Learners are accepted on the strength of their application forms and face-to-face interviews seal the deal. Copywriting students will be put through an intense copy challenge as past of the application process.

Taking place on Saturday, 13 October, 2007, the event is being staged at the new Johannesburg campus, located, 1st Floor, Bridge Street Centre, Cnr Hendrik Verwoed and Bond Street , Randburg (diagonally opposite Nestlé House & St Stithians College – above Williams Hunt). Information sessions have been scheduled for 9.30am and 10.30am and will run until noon.

Bookings are essential.
