NBS 2008 wins Best Trade & Consumer Exhibition of the Year
Issued by: Biz Events

The National Boat Show featuring Dive Expo (NBS) was named ‘Best Trade & Consumer Exhibition of the Year' in the Exhibition & Event Association of Southern Africa's (EXSA) annual awards, held on 13 November 2008 at Nasrec's Expo Centre.

NBS, Africa's premier boat and leisure show, won the coveted award in the trade and consumer category for exhibitions covering 12 001m² and more.

Now in its sixth successful year, NBS - a 360° display of everything in, on or under water - is recognised by visitors, exhibitors, the media and industry associations as the biggest and most comprehensive boat and lifestyle show on the continent.

The fact that NBS hosts the most exhibitors; visitors; exhibition floorspace; boating, fishing, scuba and lifestyle events and attractions; and the largest competition and prize bounties, along with the most valuable marketing campaign, bears testament to this.

Judges rated the show according to its marketing & promotional campaign; visual impact; safety plans; functionality; events; special features; social responsibility and efforts to provide added value to exhibitors and visitors.

Heidi Warricker, managing director of Biz Events, organiser of NBS, says the company strives for excellence across all these categories in every event it undertakes.

“This award is proof of the collaborative effort, energy, passion and determination of our team, as well as all industry stakeholders, including visitors, exhibitors and the media. We believe innovation is the key to successful, differentiated events. We constantly monitor local and international trends and develop strategies accordingly, that are then tailored to suit the markets we serve. This ensures we constantly deliver quality lifestyle experiences,” explains Warricker.

It's this lifestyle aspect that is so appealing: NBS showcases the affordability and endless possibilities offered up by the enviable lifestyle associated with boating. It taps into the value visitors place on alternative leisure options in helping them de-stress, adopt healthier lifestyles and explore a variety of options for enhanced quality family time, where you just add water!.

Melanie Warricker, Biz Events Sales & Sponsorships Manager, was also named a finalist in the ‘Best Employee of the Year' category of the EXSA awards.

Melanie is renowned for her efficiency, drive to provide quality service and ability to identify opportunities for clients that deliver maximum value and return on investment.

The National Boat Show and Dive Expo is an annual highlight on the boating, watersports, scuba and leisure calendar.

Preparations for NBS 2009, which takes place from 14 - 16 August 2009 at the Coca-Cola dome - are already well underway.

With record visitor, exhibitor, floorspace, prize money and marketing campaign numbers in 2008, next year's show promises to keep the entire market coming back for more.
