Gearing up for Sign Africa 2008

Practical Publishing is gearing up for its largest event of the year, the international Sign Africa Johannesburg and the Africa In-Store show 2008. The show opens 10 - 12 September 2008 at the Sandton Convention Centre, covering two exhibition halls and features a new Sign Africa Technology in Africa Conference area.

Sign Africa Johannesburg and the Africa In-Store Show showed overall a 76% growth from across South Africa and all over Africa including Ghana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Botswana, Kenya, Angola, Belgium, Egypt, Mozambique, Swaziland, DRC, Zambia and Gabon, as well as globally; Japan, Switzerland, Germany, USA, China, Taiwan and the UK.

A host of industry professionals will be exhibiting exciting new products, presenting live demonstrations as well as workshops and training seminars. Sign Africa will be hosting live demonstrations and showing practical DVDs from the Live Demo stand in the hall. Books, DVDs and CDs will also be on sale.

Catering to sign makers, digital printers, screenprinters, architects, advertising agencies, marketing companies, franchise companies, government corporates, the media and anybody interested in starting a business in the signage industry, nationally and internationally, Sign Africa aims at getting the right people through the door and caters to a variety of needs on the part of both the exhibitor and the visitor.

The Sign Africa Technology in Africa Conference has secured an exciting line-up of speakers including Dr. Ross Allen, an international authority on HP inkjet technology and Dr. Nicholas Hellmuth, President of FLAAR Digital Imaging Resource Centre.

Dr. Allen is sponsored by Hewlett Packard and will be covering in detail the features and details behind HP Latex Inks. This new technology offers the performance of solvent inks in commercial print production for indoor and outdoor display but with significantly reduced environmental, health and safety impact. He will be flying in from California in the United States for single speaking slot on 11 September from 11:00 to 12:00.

Dr. Hellmuth will also be arriving from the United States, sponsored by Gandinnovations to cover the following topics related to wide-format printing: Anatomy of a UV-curable Inkjet Printer: Pros and cons of different kinds of UV printers: Combo vs hybrid vs dedicated flatbed vs dedicated roll-to-roll; Applications and profit potential with UV printers: Architectural and decorative materials you can print on with wide-format inkjet; and Digital photography: How to create better input for wide-format inkjet output.

The extensive list of exhibitors includes suppliers and manufacturers of signage, screenprint, graphics, engraving, doming, textile printing, point-of-sale and digital print, offering visitors to every show the unique opportunity to see all the latest industry developments and trends. The Africa In-Store show is designed for the end-users and will include suppliers and manufacturers of all means of visual communication including signage, display, POS/POP, retail design, shopfitting packaging, and indoor and outdoor advertising mediums.

Sign Africa is sponsored by Avery Graphics and Roland and fully endorsed by the South African National Sign Association (SANSA).
