Get the right boat at the best price
Among the multitude of reasons that the National Boat Show is so well-loved by boating folk, are the hosts of show specials, deals, discounts and promotions that exhibitors offer visitors at their exhibition stands. Get to the show from 15 - 17 August at the Coca-Cola dome to view the latest boats, watersports toys and technologies.

Andre van Helsdingen of Twin Boats & Trailers, manufacturer of the Sihouette range of powerboats and an NBS exhibitor, says, “Buyers are going to get the best boat deals ever at this year's show. NBS is always the best place to buy a boat because competition drives the prices down.

“Of course it's a mixture of having the right stock at the right price, but it's also because people are realising that owning a boat and living the boating lifestyle is not as expensive as they thought,” he adds.

He illustrates: “When I started in this industry 12 years ago, a boat that sells for R130 000 today would have cost you R50 000. As a result, in those days you often heard people say ‘I can buy a house for that!' when they heard the price of a boat. That's no longer true however, because while you're getting a lot more boat for your money nowadays than you did a decade ago, thanks to major advancements in boat building and technology, relatively speaking you've paying a lot less for it.”

Van Helsdingen is himself a huge fan of the lifestyle aspect of boating, describing it as “a good clean, fun thing for families to do together, which keeps children out of the malls, off the streets and with their families, where they belong.”

What's in store at the National Boat Show?
For a complete 360 degree view of boating and watersports, visit the National Boat Show from 15-17 August at the Coca-Cola dome.

Explore this fun and family orientated lifestyle, as well as the great deals, special offers and amazing product launches.

  • Yamaha is using NBS as a platform to show off a full house of new products, including boats designed to be towed by smaller cars, fuel efficient motors, adrenalin producing hi-tech Waverunners and imported pontoon, bass and waterski boats. The company is also launching a new Skeeter bass boat.

  • Catamaran fans will be ecstatic to hear that Custom Marine has its own stand at the show. Owner Don Tait says the company is “the biggest exhibitor of the big sailing cats” and as such is offering a number of special show deals. Custom Marine is showing one of its smaller custom-built catamarans, a 24-footer, as well as one of the pontoon boats from its new pontoon range.

  • Agon Marine is a name that most boating enthusiasts aren't yet familiar with, but only because the company is launching itself at NBS! Owner Peter Evans says the new ski boat building company will be aiming its sleek and stylish boats at the upper segment of the leisure boating market. Agon is launching with two boats, a standard model with a 5-litre motor and a sports model with a 5.7 litre motor.

  • Hansen Boatz and Toyz, owner of the beloved 40-year old Ski-Vee fishing boat brand, is launching a club for Ski-Vee enthusiasts and also showing off a 16ft Ski-Vee, loaded with extras. The Ski-Vee has evolved from a deep-sea only fishing boat into a terrific utility boat that is now extremely popular among fly and bass anglers too.

  • Sensational news for fishermen and followers of the Sensation range of powerboats from Twin Boats and Trailers: the company is entering the fishing boat market with the launch of its brand new Sensation Angler boat, right here at NBS! This sea-going fishing boat has a centre console and mono-hull; reflecting the company's belief that it will change the recreational fishing market's preference from cats to mono-hulls, based on the sheer quality and performance of the Sensation Angler.

  • Broderick Sports is launching three new Prokat inland and offshore fishing boats at NBS. The company is also displaying a wide range of Suntracker pontoon boats, which it says are ideal for fishing and cruising; a variety of sport fishing boats; the Unity Offshore boats, of which it is the sole distributor; the new Flamingo cabin cruiser for inland fishing, skiing or cruising, or with a wet-deck for offshore use; and a Cruisers motor yacht.
