Audi A5 for Durban Motor Show
Issued by: Kagiso Exhibitions & Events

The just-launched and highly rated Audi A5 coupé will be displayed at the Durban Motor Show from April 10-13, even though Audi itself does not have a stand. The A5 will be one of the main features on the varied exhibit arranged by KwaZulu-Natal motoring journalist, Jeremy Fall, under the banner of his publishing company, MotorTorque, which produces online magazines.

Other cars on this stand will include a BMW M3 coupe, Subaru Impreza WRX, smart ForTwo “city car”, Range Rover Sport diesel, Chrysler 300C station wagon and a Prius petrol-electric hybrid, which will be part of an environmental display.

In addition there will be two Harley Davidson motorcycles – a Dyna Street Bob and a 12 Sportster Night Star. Jeremy also intends changing the cars on the stand during the show and is negotiating for some real surprises. He just says “Watch this space!”

The recent Chinese newcomer, Geely, will not only have its cars on display, but has also arranged for televised the third draw in its “Give and Win Campaign” to be held during the show. The contest is about the winner getting one Geely CK1 sedan to keep and one to give away – all in aid of charity, with the current beneficiary being the Cancer Association of SA.

The Geely competition is a joint promotion on television (e.tv) and radio (Jacaranda 94.2) and is hosted by former world fly-weight boxing champion, Baby Jake Matlala.

In complete contrast to the scores of latest models on show will be the combined exhibition by the Durban Early Car Club and the Veteran Car Club. The highlight of their display will be the second oldest car in South Africa that still runs. This is a very valuable 1904 Cadillac.

The 2008 Durban Motor Show will feature not only new cars, light commercials, motorcycles and quads, but also many other products associated with motoring.

Durban Motor Show runs from 10th April to 13th April at the Durban Exhibition Centre. Entry is R45 for adults and R15 for children under 12 years.
