IDG was commissioned to design Sanlam's Exhibit at this year's SA Fashion Week. Sanlam is the proud main sponsor of the event which provides a fashion platform for SA's established and up-and-coming designers.
The event took place over four days at the Sandton Convention Centre showcasing cutting-edge South African fashion design. The Sanlam SA Fashion Week Exhibition provides the media and the public with the opportunity to experience and network with over 120 labels and brands.
IDG's brief was to create an exhibit that appealed to the creative individual. Cool blue tones and stark whites served as the colour backdrop for the designer exhibit. Locally produced yarn was used as a unique decorative detail to the exhibit. The yarn was custom manufactured for the show and totalled 5.6km.
A seamless plasma screen application was used to show life-sized footage of fashion shows. This application consisted of four plasma screens positioned vertically in the centre of the exhibit with a mini catwalk fitted to the floor surface area. IDG were requested to provide a display area on the exhibit for the Five Roses student design competition. The work was displayed in acrylic holders and suspended within a steel tensioning cabling system. The competition attracts many of SA's design colleges and over 600 students had entered. Stylish designer furniture and mannequins complemented the exhibit and contributed towards the fashion theme.
Sanlam is one of the largest financial services groups and investment houses in South Africa and has been a long-standing client of IDG.
