Stand winners honoured at Markex

A lot of hard work and creativity goes into creating the perfect stand and image at any exhibition. The organisers of the recent Markex 2007 honoured the many businesses that went the extra mile in making sure their stands stood out with an awards evening, followed by an exhibitor party.

“Everyone had lots of fun at the party,” says Lynn Chamier, director of Exhibitions for Africa. “The awards were categorised into four categories, namely best small, medium and large stand as well as an award for the stand with the best staff. Special mention was made, in each category, of stands that stood out but did not win.”

Winners

The winners were:
  • Best Small Stand – Oranges
  • Best Medium Stand – Hippo Group
  • Best Large Stand – Kiss Me Quick Promotions
  • Best Stand Staff – DL Promotions
A proud Cookie Vanross, senior sales manager, of ‘KMQ Promotions' Kiss Me Quick' was very excited about the award. “This award is testament of all the hard work we have put into making this stand a success,” she says.

The Kiss Me Quick stand blazoned in electrifying pink was certainly popular, with its staff clad in pink ensembles while handing out promotional gifts of all sorts. Vanross said that kudos must be given to Sylvia Lachner of Sly Designs who designed the creative stand.

Marketing executive at Trubok's corporate division, Dave Lurie, was very happy that his company received a mention in the best large stand category, displaying the certificate displayed on the stand. “It's good that our hard work has been appreciated and recognised,” says Lurie.

“Worthwhile and rewarding"

Winner or not, Lurie believes they did receive the exposure they wanted and being there for those three days was certainly a “worthwhile and rewarding experience.” He further adds that the organisational team was “unbelievable”, “exhibition staff friendly” and that “Trubok would definitely be at Markex again in 2008.”

Jak'd Enterprises exhibited at Markex for the first time this year, after being a visitor for the last three years. It reports that its warm, shipyard art deco style stand, depicting their services was well received by visitors as being visually appealing and engaging. Jak'd won a prize for being highly commended small stand, having conceptualised, built and erected the entire stand itself, and generated a great deal of interest.

Markex was held at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg, 5 – 7 June 2007, with 10 329 visitors in total, representing a 6.72% increase over last year' 9679 visitors. 14 – 16 August will see Markex in in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, at the International Conference Centre (ICC). Exhibitions for Africa reports that and both exhibitors and visitors have indicated strong support for the event. More information is available on www.markexkzn.co.za.
