Healthy first ABC figure for Isolezwe ngeSonto
Issued by: Independent Newspapers KZN

Launched on March 30, 2008, this Sunday Zulu newspaper from the Independent Newspapers KZN stable has produced good results in its first ABC quarter audit.

A recent Isolezwe ngeSonto front page.
General Manager, Brian Porter says, “The ABC results of an average of 42 489 show a good start to Isolezwe ngeSonto, which is proving very popular in Durban and KZN each Sunday. Since August when we had some big soccer clashes and strong news values, we have seen another lift into the high 40,000s.

“Good results in the first audit can be attributed to an on-target editorial mix and ensuring the newspaper is available where people spend their Sundays.

“The paper offers a good read to the middle-market Zulu speaker in KwaZulu-Natal and circulation is strong in all regions, with more than half the weekly readership coming from Durban.

“The newspaper is distributed to in excess of 2 500 outlets and is also sold on street corners, but we are focusing on ensuring the paper is available where the people live, in addition to the commuter nodes where most of the daily sales emanate. We want to ensure the reader can get his copy of the paper so supplies to all outlets are monitored carefully and adjusted to maximise sales.”

Deputy Editor Mazwi Xaba has a strong news team who are reporting on issues that are relevant to readers while also offering sport, especially soccer, entertainment and lifestyle topics to the Sunday reader.

Activities, such as the popular Isolezwe Inthandokazi Women's Club, as well as in-store promotions, and the chance to win cars have been an added incentives to purchase. In the five months this newspaper has been on the streets two Corsa lite bakkies have been given away in reader competitions.
