The
test version of the new
M&G Online site features a completely new interface, additional user functionality, streamlined access to the various areas of the site and video content embedded in selected articles, which is where
Zoopy comes in.
Matthew Buckland,
M&G Online GM, made the decision to use Zoopy based on a list of crucial requirements that included reliability, scalability and quality of delivery. "Zoopy was an easy choice. They're focused on the best technologies and are leaders in their game. We've worked with them successfully on previous video projects and we look forward to continuing our relationship with the growth of the new
Mail & Guardian site," comments Buckland.
Strong support of social communitiesZoopy CEO Jason Elk says they jumped at the opportunity to work with the
M&G Online team again: "We're excited to be a part of the changing face of such an important publication. The
Mail & Guardian has been a strong supporter of social communities across its various sites and, with the addition of video hosted by Zoopy and provided by AFP, the new mg.co.za is living proof of the power of sharing.
“Our videos are processed using best of breed technologies, keeping sizes as small as possible while maintaining high quality visuals. We also host our files on various servers across the globe for optimised delivery speeds and uptime. These were important factors in giving
M&G the video quality and experience it wanted for its readers.
“We wish the team all the best with the new site," Elk adds.
While the
M&G Online is only using Zoopy as a video delivery partner, as a social media destination, Zoopy allows users to upload and share videos, photos, podcasts and blogs. Also announced yesterday is the first release of the
Zoopy WordPress widget which allows the sharing of Zoopy media with WordPress blog readers.
