City Press's ongoing social responsibility initiative, ‘Your South Africa, Our Home, Our Effort' has partnered with SABC's Encounters, a 13-part series hosted by well-known and respected journalist, Fred Khumalo.
‘Your South Africa', launched in July 2007, has the nation thinking and talking, enjoying a steady stream of positive feedback from both the public and private sectors for its in-depth and often harrowing stories of the lack of care for public amenities in South Africa. The campaign aims to change the mindset of people in the street and instil in them that they should look after public institutions and facilities as they belong to all South Africans.
Encounters will highlight issues of moral degeneration and is aired on Sundays at 12h30 on SABC 2. The series tackles topics that investigate moral and ethical dilemmas as Khumalo strives to get South Africans to talk.
“Hoping to inspire members of the public to appreciate and protect public facilities, the campaign challenges our mindset and thinking. We hope this drive will make each South African stop and think about their own attitude to the public space that we share and interact in, helping to build and not to destroy,” adds City Press Editor-in-Chief, Mathatha Tsedu.
