In what is referred to as the “Olympics of Cheese”, Clover sparkled as brightly as ever when they recently walked away with three gold medals and the title of Best South African Cheese with their Extra Mature Cheddar at this year's World Cheese Awards.

This year, the awards were held in Dublin and hosted an incredible 2400 cheeses from every cheese-making nation in the world. More than 90 experts from around the globe flew to Dublin to join 50 Irish judges to taste and judge the entries. The experts who judged the cheddar category all hail from England, the largest consumer of cheddar.

The judges allocated the highest marks of all the South African cheeses to the company's Extra Mature Cheddar. This achievement resulted in the company winning the Agri Expo trophy for the best South African Cheese.

“This was a team effort right through from the cheese-makers to the excellent grading selection. We are very proud indeed,” says Kassie Herbst, divisional manager, Lichtenburg Clover.
