Fighting for advertising space in the leading papers is an ongoing battle between those with the deepest pockets. Not so for Hertz Rent a Car, who've taken the initiative and conceptualised some tongue-in-cheek adverts to appear precisely where you wouldn't expect them.

The biggest creative jump came to the strategic placement of block adverts in the Personal sections of some of the country's top newspapers, inviting readers who are “looking for a meaningful relationship”, amongst other clever copy lines. Hertz's advertising agency, ARM, knew that the Hertz client would love the concept. “Hertz wanted to highlight some of their many benefits so we knew we could bring something to the table that was fun, while retaining the essence of the Hertz brand.”

The Hertz Classified adverts include spots in the Births, Business, Lost and Found, Wedding Announcements and Holidays sections of leading newspapers. Each advert is relevant to the section it is in, e.g. “You'll never get lost with a Hertz GPS rental” appears under Lost and Found.
