Strictly Come Dancing postcard and promotion campaign
Issued by: Grapevine Media

This year the Strictly Come Dancing postcard campaign run by Grapevine Postcards surpassed all expectations. The campaign was split up into a club promotion campaign coupled with the postcard campaign that featured all ten celebrity contestants.

During the month of October our postcard racks situated nationwide were dominated by the sizzling visuals of this reality dance competition.

Each celebrity contestant was featured on a card. The back of the card advertised the Strictly Come Dancing promotions that took place in various popular nightclubs in Gauteng, Cape Town and Durban. To spice things up two professional Latin-American dancers performed at each nightclub during the course of the promotion. This really related well to the theme of the promotion and created general hype around the whole event. An additional drawing card was the competition, entrants could win a pair of designer sunglasses and a bottle of perfume.

The promotions took place at the following nightclubs:

  • 09 October: Tiger Tiger
  • 10 October: Manhattan
  • 10 October: 80's
  • 11 October: Café Vacca Matta
  • 17 October: Manhattan

The promotion and postcard distribution achieved amazing results. At the nightclubs alone, a total of 2500 cards were snapped up by patrons! Another whopping 40 000 postcards were taken off the racks over the two-week campaign period.

Grapevine found that these postcards created fantastic awareness for the campaign, and because of the artwork on the cards, they are considered collector's items.
