This month our focus and applause goes to our postcard and design division who conceptualised and executed a new kind of postcard campaign. Grapevine Postcards, which has now become a division of Grapevine Media is what started it all 12 years ago. It has been our flagship and opened the doors to a whole new advertising platform in South Africa.
As the product name so aptly describes, our postcards have always been avant-garde in their style and design. But it did remain a postcard. Recently we took on a new challenge when Megarom approached us for the design of a new postcard campaign aimed at creating hype over the launch of a new game called “Alone in the Dark”, a third person horror game that plays off in New York's Central Park.
The creatives of Grapevine and Megarom came up with the idea to create a mini Newspaper to illustrate the concept and theme of the game by means of clever articles and illustrations. The Newspaper was printed on specialised paper and folded in a non-traditional booklet format for added effect.
Alone in the Dark marks a blistering return for the legendary franchise with startling innovations and wide screen cinematic presentation. The game follows paranormal investigator Edward Carnby as over the course of one apocalyptic night he must fight to survive and uncover the earth-shattering secret behind New York's Central Park. With an exhilarating mix of challenging gameplay, intense storytelling in the style of a blockbuster TV series, unprecedented environmental interaction, realistic fire physics as a core gameplay element, and DVD chapter select feature which lets everyone reach the game's climax, Alone in the Dark challenges what players expect from video games.
Alone In The Dark is out now on PC, Xbox360, PS2 and Wii. Coming Soon to PS3.
