EXCLUSIVE SCOOP: Next week, the new destination for The Loerie Awards 2009 will be revealed on Bizcommunity.com. Will it be Margate? Will it be Johannesburg? Will it be Cape Town?
In September, the Loeries Committee invited the three above-mentioned destinations and Sun City to submit proposals for hosting the 2009 awards ceremony and has since been reviewing the pitches.
According to our September poll*, Which city should host the 2009 Loeries?, Cape Town is the firm favourite of Bizcommunity.com readers, followed by Sun City, then Margate and finally Joburg.
However, Andrew Human, MD of The Loerie Awards, told Bizcommunity.com that Sun City has since dropped out of the running as the event is too big to organise on such short notice - Sun City requires three years' warning for events of such stature.
Between the three remaining venues, though, it's a very close call, says Human.
To find out where the Loeries Committee has decided upon, make sure you're glued to Bizcommunity next week.
And so the countdown begins...
*Poll results as of Thursday, 6 November 2008, 10am.
