Giving back encourages brand loyalty
Issued by: Primedia Face 2 Face

Brand loyalty is a major reason consumers will remain devoted to a brand for years on end. As a child you may have seen your mom buy Omo washing powder, or another laundry brand time after time, and for this reason would continue to use that particular product.

In today's highly competitive market however, the ever increasing range of products available makes establishing brand loyalty easier said than done. Consumers can be fickle, and will often ‘cheat' on their usual brand for the new kid on the block or one offering cheaper prices or new features. How to build and maintain brand loyalty is a key question for most marketers, and Primedia Face 2 Face addresses this concern by offering an effective and interactive Brand Loyalty Program.

The Brand Loyalty Program was implemented to enable marketers to reach the mass consumer by giving back to the community. This is done by encouraging the members of a community (schools and faith organisations are some examples) to collect wrappers or containers of predetermined products of a particular brand. In return for the collection, a monetary value is attached to the wrapper/package, so the more collected the greater the reward for the community.

These programs are run with the permission of the school/organisation, and are held within the confines and regulations governing promotional competitions. Primedia Face 2 Face always conduct their Brand Loyalty Programs with a sense of responsibility to the consumer, and do not encourage the collection of product packaging if the product is potentially unhealthy for the consumer.

Recently Primedia Face 2 Face and Unilever Powders (Omo, Surf and Sunlight) embarked on a Brand Loyalty Program with resounding success, with communities benefiting by receiving money back from Unilever Powders (Omo, Surf and Sunlight) to plough back into local schools and organisations.

One such school is Mohlakeng Public School in Randfontein on the West Rand. Last month saw Primedia Face 2 Face Brand Loyalty Ambassadors present learners at the school with a cheque for R650 for their collection of Omo boxes. This money will help with the school's needs and there was great excitement from the pupils at the school, who were incredibly proud of their achievement and the money they raised. Not only did the collection give the learners a sense of accomplishment, it also means Omo remains top of mind for them and their parents.

Unilever Powder brands (Omo, Surf and Sunlight) have signed on to the Brand Loyalty Program with Primedia Face 2 Face for another six months.

Primedia Face 2 Face has been distributing and promoting brands nationally to black consumers in both rural and urban areas since 1981. The company provides marketers the opportunity to bridge the gap between above and below-the-line conventional media, as the organisation provides a mix between sales, distribution and direct communication directly to township and rural markets.
